12-19
April this year our school was visited by Mr Peter Heaney,
representative of the Pushkin Trust of Northern Ireland, Coordinator in
Ireland. The purpose of his visit was meeting Russian members of Pushkin
Project. Representatives of schools from Moscow, Podolsk, Khabarovsk and
StPetersburg came to meet MrHeaney.
MrHeaney
analysed the results of work, connected with the theme "Sources", spoke
in detail about the project work and greeted the new members. Thanks to
this visit, the number of participants from Russia has increased. Now
Moscow has 5, Podolsk - 1, St. Petersburg - 1, Khabarovsk - 6 schools,
working in the project.
MrHeaney is a great enthusiast and a
teacher, who has worked at school for 40 years. The main purpose of his
visit was visiting Moscow schools and helping the teachers, who are
ready to develop creativity in children, connected with the projects of
the Pushkin Trust. The Trust is headed by a direct descendant of A.S.
Pushkin, Alexandra Abercorn. Besides meeting numerous teachers inside our
school, MrHeaney visited schools number 843, 1741, and school Phoenix
1666. He was heartily greeted everywhere, shown interesting things and
told about history of every school.
For MrHeaney this was the
first visit both to Russia and to Moscow. That is why we tried to make
him closer to Russian culture. We organised excursions to Pushkin
Literary Museum, to the Tretyakov Gallery and to museums in Izmailovo.
Every evening he visited Moscow theatres.
Everybody was sad,
when MrHeaney's seven-day-long visit came to its end. He flew back to
Ireland to tell everybody about his impressions, Russian friends and
colleagues, but he promissed to come back in September with more
teachers from the Pushkin Trust. What we have to do before the end of
the school year is to organise a conference about the Sources, start
reading the books, which Peter Heaney has brought from our Irish friends
and get ready for meeting new guests from Ireland any time!
We
express great thanks to all the teachers, pupils and different
specialists, working in our school, who have helpen in preparing and
making MrHeaney's visit fruitful and pleasant!
